Mercury Crisis?

We are often asked if there is any truth to the information that is presented to the public about the dangers of filling material used in dentistry that contain mercury. Do I have a definitive answer? No? Am I concerned, yes. OSHA(Occupational, Safety and Health Administration) tell dentists that after restoring a tooth with a mercury type filling, that if there is additional meterial remaining, that excess must either be placed in another tooth or under water in an airtight sealed jar! Wow that is quite a statement! Many European countries have either banned or are in the process of banning restorative materials that utilize mercury.
Our office chooses not to use mercury fillings for your safety as well as ours. We take special precautions when removing old mercury restorations to protect everyone from the unknown potential dangers that mercury vapors pose.
