TEETH by Mountain Do?Recently when I was at my youngest daughter's school I was amazed at the over whelming presence of soda and snack machines OMG! It's no wonder we are seeing an increase in cavities in high school age children.
This is a photo of a 15 year old high school student who over indulges daily on a popular soda made with large amounts of caffeine! This child will require significant amounts of dentistry which will be painstaking and expensive.
The problem with drinking soda is the sugar and acid in the beverage does major damage to the enamel on your teeth. When you sip soda, the sugar in the drink interacts with bacteria in your mouth and creates an acid. For 20 minutes, as long as it takes for your mouth to produce enough saliva to wash it away, acid is staging a siege on your teeth, attacking the enamel and eroding it.
The problem isn't solved by allowing our children to have free access to diet sodas. Although the sugary component is removed, the acid remains and to do damage to the teeth.
If you should have any questions with regards to this serious problem, please contact us at 561-394-9000.
